Dues

$50 annually (each calendar year); however, individuals who join after July 1 in a given calendar year will pay a discounted fee of $25. If joining on or after July 1, select the "Discounted Fee" option in PayPal.
 

Why Join

As a member of an SHRM-affiliated local chapter you will develop a network that will help you in many ways:

  • Availability of local professional development opportunities;
  • Access to current best practices to make your organization more efficient;
  • Availability of up-to-date information on pending legislation;
  • Opportunity to develop leadership skills by taking on volunteer roles in the chapter;
  • Development of a reputation and credentials in the HR field through your involvement in a local chapter
  • And most of all—HAVE FUN doing it!


Criteria

As a 100% chapter, local chapter membership is only available to those professionals who are members in good standing with National SHRM and meet the following criteria:

Professional: Practitioner of HR management at the exempt level for at least 3 years; Certified by HRCI; Faculty member holding an assistant, associate or full professor rank in HR management or any of its specialized functions at an accredited college or university for at least 3 years; Full-time consultant with at least 3 years experience practicing in the field of HR management; or Full-time attorneys with at least 3 years experience in counseling and advising clients on matters relating to the HR profession. Professional Members may vote and hold office in the Chapter.

Associate: Individuals in non-exempt HR management positions as well as other interested individuals who do not meet qualifications of the other classes of membership, but who demonstrate a bona fide interest in HR management and the mission of the Chapter. Associate Members may not vote or hold office in the Chapter.

Student: Individuals who are (a) enrolled either as full-time or part-time students at freshman standing or higher; (b) enrolled at an equivalent of at least 6 credit hours; (c) enrolled in a four-year or graduate institution and/or consortium of these or a two-year community college with a matriculation agreement between it and a four-year college or university which provides for automatic acceptance of the community college students into their programs; (d) able to provide verification of a demonstrated emphasis in HR management subjects, and (e) able to provide verification of the college or university's HR or related degree program. Student members may not vote or hold office in the Chapter.


Primary Chapter Designation

  • If you are a current national SHRM member but have not designated a primary chapter (i.e., you are an "at large member"), complete and submit the Prince William SHRM Membership Application. We'll contact SHRM to designate Prince William SHRM as your primary chapter.
  • If you are a current national SHRM member, have designated another Chapter as your primary chapter, but you want to make Prince William SHRM your primary chapter now, you must initiate that request directly with SHRM. Send an email message to Crystal Adair, SHRM's Regional Administrator for the Southeast Region (crystal.adair@shrm.org) stating that you'd like to designate Prince William SHRM (Chapter #740) as your primary chapter. Complete and submit the Prince William SHRM Membership Application.
  • If you are a current national SHRM member and have designated another Chapter as your primary chapter, you may also join Prince William SHRM and retain the other Chapter as your primary chapter. Complete and submit the Prince William SHRM Membership Application.
  • If you are not currently a national SHRM member, join SHRM online at www.shrm.org. Designate Chapter #740 Prince William SHRM as your primary chapter. Complete and submit the Prince William SHRM membership application.
